Food Preservation by Traditional Ways: 7 Fun Ways to Do It Yourself

Do you want to learn about traditional ways of preserving foods?  The tried and true.
Please join us for a fun-filled day of building food resilience.

We’ll learn why we preserve food & how it relates to our modern world and future.

Methods covered will include:
Canning (hot water bath),
Dehydrating & Vacuum Packing,
Freezing,
Fruit & Vegetable Cold Storage, including Basement Root Cellars,
Fermentation,
Jams and Jellies.

Experienced food preservers will demonstrate and explain and answer all you questions.
There will be a handout of weblinks to clear instructions for each method as well as lists of supplemental resources.
You will gain the knowledge and confidence to do it yourself!

Cooking School Kitchen, Upstairs, Tantallon Superstore,  5178 Hwy 3
Cost: $55  –  $30 for half day  –  $30 for youth under 30.
Coffee, tea, and dessert will be provided.  Bring your bagged lunch.
