Movie & Discussion Night: TOMORROW (Demain-LeFilm)

March 12, 2017 @ 2:15 pm - 5:00 pm

Tomorrow

Recent news shows us that countries around the world are facing ecological, economical and political challenges. It can be difficult to look at the problems we are facing and not feel that things are overwhelming and out of our control. But Transition Bay St Margarets believes that the power to overcome these challenges is in the hands of our local communities, and are hosting ascreening of the critically acclaimed documentary film ‘Tomorrow’ (‘Demain’), to show what’s possible when people come together to effect change.
The documentary features globetrotting film makers Cyril Dion and Mélanie Laurent as they carry out an investigation in ten different countries. On their journey they met pioneers who are re-inventing agriculture, energy, economy, democracy and education at the community level. The film introduces us to these farmers, teachers, researchers and small-town participants that have found their own methods for combating issues like global warming, food shortage and general economic meltdown.
Is it possible that change at the community level can solve the ecological, economical and social crises that are facing people around the world?
Join us at Tantallon Library on Sunday, March 12th as we explore these ideas. The movie will start promptly at 2:15, and we will follow with a group discussion until 4:45. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free.
