DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in learning how red wiggler worms can help you turn food scraps into “gardeners gold”? Join Waste Resource Education Officer\, Cyndi Fraser\, to learn all about vermicomposting. This workshop will teach you how to setup\, maintain\, and harvest your bin\, giving you nutrient rich castings for your lawn and garden.\n  \nCyndi has been working for Solid Waste Resources (SWR) since August 2021 as a Waste Resource Education Officer. During her time at SWR she has been the lead on multiple projects including the Condo Clear Bag program\, the Let’s Be Clear Litter Doesn’t Belong Here school program\, and the Vermicomposting Pilot project. Cyndi enjoys the variety of tasks that her position entails – from interacting with the public at a Home Show\, to working with students on proper sorting\, to developing new programming the role of educator brings the variety and flexibility Cyndi enjoys! \nCyndi will offer 3 vermicomposters to the attendees (we will draw names if there are more than 3 interested in receiving a vermicomposter). \nThe workshop will be held at the Tantallon Public Library on Tuesday\, June 10th from 6:30 to 8:00pm.  The event is free and open to the public.  Donations are greatly appreciated. We will be planting Swiss chard\, kale\, beets\, onions\, parsnips\, turnips\, cabbage\, potatoes and carrots – all fairly easy to grow and store into the cold season. \nEach year\, Transition Bay volunteers grow about 500 pounds of vegetables from these four raised beds for the St Margarets Bay Food Bank.  They greatly appreciate this fresh produce.  The Crossroads Garden is also intended to inspire everyone about the benefits of starting or expanding a home vegetable garden.  This is becoming very important in this era of rapidly increasing food costs. \nTransition Bay is always looking for more volunteers to help with the garden.  If interested\, reach out to us at: info@transitionbay.ca.

DESCRIPTION:Join us in preparing the soil for our 13th Season!  We will be adding compost\, amendments and prepping the soil for spring planting.  We will be there rain or shine.  We will also install the Seed Library stocked with free seeds! \nEach year\, Transition Bay volunteers grow about 500 pounds of vegetables from these four raised beds for the St Margarets Bay Food Bank.  They greatly appreciate this fresh produce.  The Crossroads Garden is also intended to inspire everyone about the benefits of starting or expanding a home vegetable garden.  This is becoming very important in this era of rapidly increasing food costs. \nTransition Bay is always looking for more volunteers to help with the garden.  If interested\, reach out to us at: info@transitionbay.ca.

DESCRIPTION:The Transition Movement is a movement of communities coming together to reimagine and rebuild our world in the face of the world’s huge challenges (climate change\, social inequality\, economic decline\, resource depletion and so on).\nTransition started in England in 2005 and rapidly spread worldwide to over 48 countries\, 23 Transition Hubs and thousands of communities.
