Local Currency

Transition Bay St Margarets is working on two separate potential local currencies for launch in 2013:

Bay Bucks - This currency is intended to circulate among the businesses and residents of St Margarets Bay, and is modeled after the Berkshare, one of the most successful local currencies in the world today - operating in Western Massachusetts.   See the PDF link below for a project brief.

Carats - Launched this summer, this currency is designed to help market and home gardeners pay for the help that they need to get the gardening work done.  Rather than pay Canadian dollars, a gardener can pay their help in Carats, which are redeemable in vegetables.  See the PDF link below for a project brief and the Project page for Carats!
