Fifth annual Vision Workshop and Birthday Party, Sunday, June 19th from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the Acadian Maple Products meeting room.

For this year’s workshop, we will be discussing the potential for a SMB Community Hub.  Our guest speaker and co-facilitator will be Laurie Cook, Director of the United Way Hubs Project (see: http://hubsproject.wix.com/unitedway).  Laurie coordinates discussion among a wide variety of active hubs in HRM and beyond, and she can give us the big picture on what is happening with hubs in our region.

The vision session will be conducted from 1:00 to 3:00pm and we will discuss the potential content and make-up of a hub.  There is a whole range of possibilities including a commercial kitchen, greenhouses/gardens, art & culture studios, meeting spaces, a community ‘living room’, paid coordinator, etc.  Then, we will spend some time discussing where, how and who.  This portion will get into ideas on potential locations for a hubs, including existing buildings, land for community gardens, funding, etc., etc.

It would be extremely helpful if someone from each area group concerned with this was able to attend.  Other area groups will be represented.  Please let us know if you would like to attend, or if you would like to recommend someone else to attend as well.
